Question: Do we need to make advanced reservations?
Answer: Yes, advanced reservations are required. You can book here on this website or call our office for a reservation and any additional questions. We would love to speak with you!

Question: Cancellation Policy?
Answer: Tours cancelled 48 hours prior to scheduled departure shall receive a FULL REFUND! There is no refund for cancellations received within 48 hours of the scheduled tour departure or for not showing. If Covered Wagons cancels the tour due to rare, inclement weather, you may reschedule or request a full refund.

Group Tours and Private Tours – Please refer to the Cancellation Policy on your Agreement.


Question: Restrooms?
Answer: There are no restroom stops on the actual tour. But before your tour departure and after your tour we have upgraded restrooms with flushable toilets for your enjoyment!


Question: How much walking or hiking is on the tour?
Answer: Walking and hiking on our tour is mostly through a hard packed sandy surface, but in some places the sand is softer. It’s an easy area to walk around typically but, it is optional, and you can choose to remain in the wagon with no questions asked!


Question: Vegetarian Option?
Answer: With reservations pre arrival, you can order the vegetarian option du jour. You can also enjoy the sides of Cowboy BBQ Beans, Prairie Coleslaw, and fresh bread. Sorry, we cannot accommodate a gluten free or a totally vegan menu on a public tour. You are welcome to bring your own food and enjoy it with your group. We will supply silverware!


Question: Transportation
Answer: Plenty of parking is available for your cars or for a group coach. If you require a shuttle or coach pickup for your group, please call us. We can arrange transportation for an additional cost.


Question: Preparation
Answer: Covered Wagons is located 4 miles north from the Washington Street exit and the 10 freeway in Palm Desert. If you are coming from this direction, you will turn right at our sign and make your way up to the ranch. We have free parking on-site for cars and buses. For general dinner tours, wagons roll about 1.5 hours before the sunset. Payment is accepted online or on the day of the tour with advanced reservations. We accept all major credit cards or cash on sight.

Question: What to Bring
Answer: We recommend comfortable clothing for the weather. After the sun sets, the desert can get cooler. Please being an extra layer. We also suggest closed toed shoes vs sandals or high heels. Don’t forget your camera, you will have many photo opportunities and scenic desert sunsets pictures with friends and family that will last a lifetime!
